How to choose a submersible pump

Match the borewell size

V-6 pumps are built for 6 inch borewells and V-5 for 5 inch. The pump has to pass down your bore with clearance, so measure its inside diameter first.

Work out the total head

Add the depth to the water level, the height you lift above ground and pipe losses. Choose a pump rated at or above that figure; our range covers 40 ft and 50 ft head.

Know how much water you need

The volume you need, in litres per minute or per hour, decides the flow design. Mix flow pumps move larger volumes efficiently.

Check your water quality

Hard, sandy or saline water wears metal faster. Stainless steel resists corrosion; cast iron is the sturdy, economical choice for clean water.

What is the difference between a V-6 and a V-5 submersible pump?
The number is the borewell size the pump is built for: V-6 fits 6 inch borewells and V-5 fits 5 inch borewells. Choose by the inside diameter of your bore.
What does 40 ft or 50 ft head mean?
Head is how high the pump can push water, in feet. Add the depth to the water, the height you need to lift it above ground and an allowance for pipe friction, then pick a pump rated at or above that total.
Should I choose a cast iron or stainless steel submersible pump?
Cast iron is sturdy and economical for clean water. Stainless steel resists corrosion, so it lasts longer in hard, saline or sandy water.
